Weather updates: People living in Mumbai and its surrounding areas like Thane and Palghar need to be cautious. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘orange alert’ of heavy to very heavy rains for these areas for the next two days.
This alert simply means that the monsoon is in full swing and the administration as well as the common people should be prepared for bad weather. The Meteorological Department has predicted that there may be torrential rains at some places during this period.
This heavy rain can cause many problems. There is a possibility of waterlogging in low-lying areas, which can cause heavy traffic jams on the roads. Also, it can affect the local train services and other public transport which are called the lifeline of Mumbai.
In view of this, citizens have been advised to remain cautious and avoid leaving home without any urgent work. If travelling is very important, then first get the latest weather information and stay away from waterlogged roads. Overall, the next two days can be challenging for Mumbai and surrounding areas.
