Rain and dust storm forecast

The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for Tuesday and Wednesday, forecasting light to moderate rain in Delhi.

The wind speed is expected to reach 40-50 km / h, and dust storms are likely during this period.

Meteorological reasons behind weather change

The current change in weather is due to the interaction of three major systems:

Cyclonic circulation at an altitude of 0.9 km over South Punjab.

Another cyclonic system at an altitude of 3.1 km over northeast Punjab.

A low-pressure area associated with a western disturbance at an altitude of 5.8 km is driving easterly winds in the mid-troposphere.

Last week's heat wave

Between June 8 and 14, Delhi experienced a severe heat wave, with temperatures in excess of 40 degrees Celsius and high humidity, making it feel like 54.4 degrees Celsius at times.

This period caused considerable discomfort to residents who had to endure extreme heat and sweating throughout the day.

Upcoming weather forecast

The maximum temperature is unlikely to cross 40 degrees Celsius for at least a week.

Intermittent rain, cloudy skies, thunderstorms, lightning and cool winds are expected, bringing steady relief from the earlier heat.
