


A new era in Indian cricket will begin under Shubman Gill’s leadership as the Test series against England kicks off at Headingley on June 20.

As India gears up for the Test series against England starting June 20 at Headingley, a new chapter begins under the leadership of Shubman Gill. This marks India’s first series after the iconic retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. At just 25, Gill now finds himself leading the side in one of the toughest conditions in world cricket.
Reflecting on the moment he was offered the captaincy, Gill said he felt overwhelmed but is ready to embrace the responsibility. “When I came to know, there was an opportunity to captain the Test team, it was overwhelming. Having said that It’s a big responsibility. Looking forward to this great challenge that will be presented to us,” he said before leaving for England.
Following Virat Kohli’s retirement, there’s been a lot of buzz around India’s new batting order. Shubman Gill indicated that a decision will be made after the team’s intra-squad match, which begins on June 13.
“We haven’t really decided on the…we still have some time. We will be playing intra squad match and we will be having a 10-day camp in London, so we still have a little bit of time. I think we can decide on the batting order once we go there,” he said.
