For the first time in Bihar, students will study Astronomy, the paths will open up to ISRO and NASA

Bihar News: A historic step has been taken in the education sector of Bihar. Astronomy is going to start studying astronomy at the state’s first technical university Aryabhatta Gyan (AKU). This is the first time a professional course is being started in a university in Bihar to understand the depths of sun, moon, stars, planets and space.

The university will start the MTech course in Post Graduation (PG), PhD and Space Engineering in Astronomy from next month. Through these courses, students will be able to make a career in future in iconic institutions like ISRO and NASA.

20 crores will be spent on starting the course

This ambitious project will cost a total of Rs 20 crore. This includes the purchase of state -of -the -art labs, equipment and telescope. University Registrar Ramji Singh informed the media that this step has been taken as per the wish of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The university is named after the great mathematician and astronomer Aryabhata, who did important work on Astronomy in the fourth century.

DPR ready for admission

A detailed project report (DPR) of Astronomy Course has been sent to the government and expert consultants have also been appointed for this. Only those students will get entry into the course, who are interested in astronomy and space science.

Seats limited, but demand increases

Consultant of the course Prof. According to Rajmani Prasad Sinha, every year the demand for Astronomy course is increasing by 7%. Initially there will be only 10 seats, but seats will be increased in future. The course will be divided into four semesters and the fee of each semester will be ₹ 12,000. A team of 13 professors from all over the country has been prepared for studies, which will also include experts from Bangalore.

Special telescope arrangements

To give practical appearance to the study of astronomy, 7 types of telescope will be ordered in the university. These include 4 inch refractive telescope, 12 inch Catadyoptric telescope, solar telescope, IR telescope, charge couplet devices, astronomical photometers and simple radio telescope.
