
The Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch took action against illegal LPG refilling centres on Wednesday, arresting two individuals. Police conducted raids at two locations—one in Bhosari and another in Chikhali—where suspects were found transferring gas from domestic cylinders to smaller ones.
Last week, Chinchwad MLA Shankar Jagtap raised concerns in the state assembly about the black marketing of LPG cylinders in parts of Pimpri Chinchwad. He urged strict action against those involved in such activities.
According to a crime branch officer, a raid was carried out at a shop in Chikhali, where a suspect was caught illegally transferring LPG and selling smaller cylinders at inflated prices to workers. "We arrested the 24-year-old shop owner and recovered cylinders and other material worth Rs28,000," the officer said.
In a separate operation at Chakrapani Vasahat, another suspect was found engaging in illegal LPG transfers. A case was registered against the 20-year-old shop owner, and police recovered cylinders and materials worth Rs25,000.
The crime branch has assured continued action against illegal LPG refilling centres to curb this hazardous practice.
