Popular Pakistani actor and Islamic student Hamza Ali Abbasi has recently addressed long-standing rumors about quitting the entertainment industry. The Alif and Pyare Afzal star appeared in Mansoor Ali Khan’s podcast, where he clarified the confusion surrounding his earlier statements regarding his break from showbiz.
With a strong Instagram following of over 1.1 million, Hamza is widely admired for his diverse roles in both television and film. His acclaimed drama serials include Mann Mayal, Alif, and the recent Jaan e Jahan, while he has also made a mark on the big screen with films such as Jawani Phir Nahi Aani, Umro Ayar, and The Legend of Maula Jatt.
In the podcast, Hamza revealed that his original message was misunderstood. “I never said I was quitting showbiz,” he stated. “I made a video clearly saying I was taking a break, not leaving entirely. Unfortunately, people took a short clip out of context and the next day, headlines everywhere claimed I had exited the industry.”
Hamza explained that during his time away, he went to Dallas to study Islam under the guidance of renowned scholar Javed Ahmad Ghamidi. “I follow Ghamidi Sahab’s approach, which doesn’t view entertainment and religion as mutually exclusive. But here, people are quick to label anyone seeking Islamic knowledge as having ‘left’ the media industry,” he added.
The actor expressed disappointment over how social media often amplifies misinformation, saying, “People rarely watch the full video — they form opinions based on snippets.”
Hamza Ali Abbasi’s clarification comes at a time when he is once again active in the entertainment world, with Jaan e Jahan marking his much-welcomed return to television.
