Tuesday’s reports claim that Juventus and Milan are considering the possibility of a potential player exchange deal involving Dusan Vlahovic and Theo Hernandez, who are both expected to leave their current clubs during the summer transfer window.
Both players will be entering the final years of their respective contracts in 2025-26, and both the Rossoneri and Bianconeri have been looking to move them on in order to avoid the risk of losing them on free transfers next summer.
Theo Hernandez has already rejected a lucrative contract offer from Al-Hilal, who had been prepared to pay Milan a fee in the region of €35m.
The Frenchman also had a move to Atletico Madrid fall through, as Diego Simeone’s side was reportedly unwilling to match Milan’s €25m minimum valuation.
Vlahovic, meanwhile, will be allowed to leave Juventus if a suitable offer arrives this summer. He remains the highest earner in the division, as his salary will increase to €12m for the final year of his Juventus deal in 2025-26.
Milan, now under the guidance of Massimiliano Allegri, who brought Vlahovic to Turin from Fiorentina, has been linked with a move to sign the Serbian this summer.
Details behind rumoured Vlahovic-Theo Hernandez swap revealed
Now, according to reports from Tuttosport and Calciomercato.com, both clubs are considering the possibility of a sort of player swap, possibly with a minor cash transaction involved as well.
It is understood that both players are currently valued, roughly, in the region of €30m by their current employers.
The issue, however, is less to do with the players’ respective valuations, but the difference in salaries.
Vlahovic will earn €12m on the final year of his Juventus contract, which is too much for Milan, who pay Theo Hernandez around €4.5m per season, and whose highest earner is Rafael Leao on a reported salary of around €7m per year.
Coincidentally, Juventus also remain interested in a deal for Milan centre-back Fikayo Tomori, who could also be allowed to leave under the right circumstances this summer.
