Manchester United who were following Sporting’s Viktor Gyökeres since the start of the summer transfer window has now recieved a bad update as the player wants to go Arsenal instead of the Red Devils. As United don’t have any European football next season, the player has kept his priority. But, does this choice from Gyökeres has made United think of this Bundesliga’s striker and go for him completely. Hugo Ekitike is one of the names that United have set their eyes on.
As per reports, they were monitoring his progress since his early days, but will they move for him this summer or do they have other options decided? These things are still unclear and needs to be answered as soon as posible for United and manager Ruben Amorim.
The Sporting CP forward, who has been on United’s radar since the start of the transfer window, is reportedly prioritising a club with European football, something United cannot offer next season.
With the Gunners preparing for another UEFA Champions League campaign, the Swedish striker sees Arsenal as the better fit at this stage of his career. This development is a major setback for United, who are eager to bolster their attacking options ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.
However, Gyökeres’ decision may have prompted Manchester United to turn their attention toward Bundesliga talent. One name gaining traction is Hugo Ekitike. The young French striker, currently at Eintracht Frankfurt, has been admired by United scouts since his early days at Reims and PSG. His physical presence and eye for goal make him a potential fit for the Premier League.
