Pranati Nayak's Remarkable Achievement

New Delhi: Indian gymnast Pranati Nayak has secured a bronze medal in the vault final at the 12th Senior Women’s Asian Artistic Gymnastics Championships held in Jecheon, South Korea, on Saturday.

At 30 years old, Nayak previously earned a bronze at the FIG World Cup in Antalya, Turkey, earlier this March, scoring 13.466 to claim her spot on the podium.

The gold medal was awarded to China's Yihan Zhang, who scored 13.650, while Vietnam's Thi Quynh Nhu Nguyen took home the silver with a score of 13.583.

Another promising talent, young gymnast Protistha Samanta, finished just shy of a medal in fourth place, achieving a score of 13.016 at the Jecheon Gymnasium.

With this latest achievement, Nayak has now won three medals at the continental championships, surpassing the two medals previously held by veteran gymnast Dipa Karmakar. Nayak's earlier victories include bronze medals in the vault at the 2019 championships in Ulaanbaatar and again in 2022 in Doha.

Karmakar, who won her first continental medal, a vault bronze, in Hiroshima in 2015, also secured a gold in Tashkent earlier this year.

Nayak, who represented India at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, had a strong first vault attempt, scoring 13.666, but a lower second vault score of 12.866 impacted her overall performance.

She qualified for the final after finishing fourth in the qualification round with a score of 13.083, while Protistha also advanced to the medal round with a commendable score of 12.916.
