Kamal Haasan shocks SC, refused to hear; Demand for security against threats

Desk. Tamil Superstar Kamal Haasan’s film ‘Thug Life’ was not released in Karnataka due to controversies. However, when its release was demanded, the owners of Cinema received many threats. Because of this, a petition to protect theaters was filed in the Supreme Court, which the Supreme Court has refused to hear immediately.

The Karnataka Theater Association filed a petition in the Supreme Court to provide security due to a dispute over ‘Thug Life’ starring Kamal Haasan. During its hearing, a bench of Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice Manmohan asked the Theater Association of Karnataka to move to the Karnataka High Court. Apart from this, Justice Prashant Mishra, while refusing to hear immediately, said that firefighting equipment should be installed in theaters and asked the petitioner to go to the High Court.

Actor Kamal Haasan had made controversial remarks on Kannada language during the promotion of his film ‘Thug Life’, after which he was strongly opposed and his film was demanded not to release in Karnataka. In view of this, Kamal Haasan’s film ‘Thug Life’ was released on June 5, except Karnataka. Since then, theaters located in Karnataka are receiving threats. A lawyer, who filed a petitioner on behalf of the Theater Association, said that some groups opposing the screening of the film are openly threatening that theaters will be set on fire. A petition was filed in the Supreme Court regarding this.
