Fatal Accident in Balasore District
Balasore: On Sunday, a tragic incident occurred in Odisha's Balasore district, resulting in the deaths of three laborers who were engaged in the construction of a septic tank, according to police reports.
The unfortunate event took place in Gagandhuli village, located within the jurisdiction of the Khaira police station.
Authorities revealed that a temporary electrical connection was set up to illuminate the interior of the tank. Subsequently, the workers were discovered unconscious and were promptly rescued and transported to the Bhadrak district headquarters hospital.
Medical personnel at the hospital pronounced them dead upon arrival. The victims have been identified as Babaji Majhi, Bapi Majhi, and Narahari Behera.
Suchandera Mahallik, the inspector-in-charge of the Khaira police station, stated, "We are still investigating the precise cause of their deaths—whether it was due to electrocution or suffocation. The definitive cause will be determined following post-mortem examinations."
A case has been filed, and an investigation is currently underway, Mahallik confirmed.
This incident follows another tragic event on June 3, when four sanitation workers reportedly died from asphyxiation while cleaning a septic tank in Nabarangpur district.
