
Two cybercriminals have been arrested from Bihar for allegedly creating and circulating an AI-generated explicit video featuring the wife of Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, an Indian Navy officer martyred in the 22 April terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir.
The accused, identified as Mohibul Haq and Ghulam Jilani, residents of Dhobwalia village in Manjha Thana area, were apprehended by Haryana Police with assistance from Gopalganj Police. Investigations revealed they used artificial intelligence to create the deepfake video and uploaded it to a YouTube channel.
A case was initially registered at Gurugram's cyber police station in Haryana. Technical analysis traced the video's origin, leading to the arrests. Gopalganj Superintendent of Police Awadhesh Dixit confirmed that laptops, mobile phones, and other devices were seized during the operation.
Interrogation uncovered that the duo had targeted multiple individuals with similar AI-generated explicit content. Authorities are now investigating the full scope of their activities.
