- 1. Dry chili well: Do not wash the chillies after bringing from the market. If it is necessary to wash, then wipe it well with a clean cloth and dry it completely. The possibility of mildew and rotting increases when moisture remains.
- 2. Remove the stalk (stem): Cut the green chili stem, because there is more moisture in the stalk and it starts to rot. After removing the stalk, keep the chillies in an airtight compartment.
- 3. Wrap in paper or tissue: Wrap the chillies in a paper towel or newspaper and keep it in a ziplock bag or airtight container. This helps in absorbing moisture and chili remains fresh for a long time.
- 4. Keep in the fridge, but in the right place: Keep the green chili in the vegetable crisper section of the fridge (below part). Here the temperature is stable and moisture is controlled, due to which chili lasts for longer.
- 5. Sprinkle lemon juice or vinegar (for long term storage): If you want to store chili for weeks, cut it and sprinkle a little lemon juice or white vinegar and keep it in the container. This will not spoil chili quickly and can also taste a little pickle.
