After winning the final of IPL 2025, the team of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) was celebrating their first trophy after a long wait of 18 years. But on June 4, the huge crowd and chaos outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru turned this happiness into mourning. 11 people died tragically from a stampede in the crowd for celebration.
After the historic victory of RCB, the entire Bengaluru was immersed in celebrations on Tuesday, June 3. Under the captaincy of Rajat Patidar, the team defeated Punjab Kings by 6 runs in the final to name the IPL 2025 trophy. On this occasion, the entire team including Virat Kohli reached Bangalore and it was decided that the celebration of victory would be celebrated publicly at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on 4 June.
Free entry became the reason for the accident
As soon as the news spread that there is a free entry in this ceremony, thousands of people flocked towards the stadium without any control. Neither did anyone have a ticket, nor procedure for admission. The crowd continued to grow and eventually a stampede occurred. During this time, 11 people lost their lives due to suffocation and pressing, while many others were injured.
Virat Kohli’s broken heart
After the news of the accident, Virat Kohli shared the official statement of RCB on social media, "I am completely broken, I do not have words to say." His response is becoming increasingly viral on social media and fans are also expressing grief.
RCB management official statement
RCB issued a statement saying, "We are deeply saddened by the information received from media reports. The safety of all is the most important for us. We express deep grief over the loss of life and property. As soon as we realized the seriousness of the situation, we made a change in our program and took steps on the advice of the local administration."
Questions raised on administration
After this painful incident, questions are also being raised on the preparations of the administration and the organizers. It is considered very negligent to announce the free entry without adequate security.
Wave of mourning across the country
This incident has shocked not only Bangalore but also cricket lovers from all over the country. A moment of happiness will be so heavy, no one had thought.
