Updating Aadhaar cards for children has become a lot simpler, thanks to a new initiative by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Parents in Ghaziabad can now update their children’s biometrics without needing an appointment at Aadhaar Seva Kendras, making the process faster and more convenient.
UIDAI Launches Special Campaign for Child Aadhaar Updates
In a move aimed at easing the Aadhaar update process for children, UIDAI’s Lucknow Regional Office has rolled out a targeted awareness and facilitation campaign across Ghaziabad district. As part of this campaign, children aged between 5 and 15 years can now walk into Aadhaar Seva Kendras with their parents to get their biometric details updated—no prior booking required.
This initiative comes in response to the increasing need for faster Aadhaar updates and the mandatory biometric renewals required at key age milestones.
Key Age Milestones for Biometric Updates
As per UIDAI guidelines, biometric updates are mandatory when a child turns 5 and again at 15 years. These updates involve capturing:
-
Fingerprints
-
Iris scans
-
Recent photographs
Earlier, parents were required to book time slots in advance, leading to delays and inconvenience. But under the new initiative, UIDAI has reserved dedicated hours from Monday to Friday (4:30 PM to 5:30 PM) and all-day access on Saturdays and Sundays for walk-in biometric updates of children at Aadhaar Seva Kendras.
Separate Biometric Machines for Children’s Updates
To streamline the process further, special machines have been installed at Aadhaar Seva Kendras for child registrations and biometric updates. This setup ensures quicker service and reduces waiting times for families visiting the centers.
Officials said these dedicated machines will help in managing footfall efficiently while maintaining the accuracy and quality of biometric data collection. On average, over 50 children’s biometric records are updated daily At the Ghazibad Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
Additional Update Centers at Banks and Post Offices
In addition to the main Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Ghaziabad, several banks and post offices are also authorized to carry out biometric updates. These alternative centers give parents more flexibility and options to complete the process conveniently and near their locality.
Why These Updates Matter
The Aadhaar biometric updates at the age of 5 and 15 are crucial for maintaining the accuracy of a child’s Aadhaar profile. Since physical traits like fingerprints and facial structure change significantly during childhood and adolescence, fresh biometric data ensures that Aadhaar remains a reliable and up-to-date identity document.
Failing to update these records can result in Aadhaar- services being delayed or denied in the future, especially for school admissions, government schemes, or bank- KYC procedures.
A Welcome Move for Parents
Parents across Ghaziabad have welcomed the move, calling it a time-saving and parent-friendly approach. With schools closed on weekends and evenings free from work commitments, the flexible hours are especially helpful for working families.
Bottom Line: If your child is approaching the age of 5 or 15, there’s no need to wait or book an appointment. Simply visit your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Ghaziabad during the designated hours and complete the biometric update with ease.
Stay informed and keep your child’s Aadhaar up-to-date—because a small update today ensures hassle-free identity verification tomorrow.
