Whether it is to open a bank account, take a mobile SIM or check-in in the hotel-it is needed everywhere. But do you know that misuse of Aadhaar card can not only put you in trouble, but it can also have to bear gel and penalty?
Aadhaar data is very important
Your biometric information in the Aadhaar card such as fingerprint and iris scan is preserved by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). According to UIDAI rules, unauthorized use of these information or violating the rules in some way is a punishable offense. Under UIDAI fine (determination) rule, 2021, if a person creates unauthorized access to data or violates the guidelines of UIDAI, he can be fined heavy.
3 years in jail and fine of up to ₹ 10,000
According to UIDAI’s official website uidai.gov.in, if a person changes the demographic or biometric information of the Aadhaar card holder or tries to do so, it will be considered a crime. By doing this, a sentence of up to 3 years and a fine of up to ₹ 10,000 can be imposed.

If you suspect that someone else has used your Aadhaar card, then you can check it by visiting the MYADHAAR website:
- Go to the website and login via OTP.
- Go to the “Authentication History” section and see the record of the use of Aadhaar.
- If any suspicious activity is seen, report to UIDAI immediately.
