EPFO Update: Instantly Check PF Balance via Missed Call, SMS, App, or Online Portal

Keeping track of your Provident Fund (PF) balance has never been easier. The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) now offers multiple convenient methods to check your EPF balance instantly—whether you prefer a quick SMS, a missed call, a mobile app, or the official website. Here’s how you can stay updated on your retirement savings in just a few steps.

1. Check PF Balance via SMS

You can check your PF account balance by sending a simple SMS from your registered mobile number.

Here, ENG represents English. You can receive updates in other regional languages too by replacing “ENG” with the first three letters of your preferred language (e.g., HIN for Hindi, TAM for Tamil).

Make sure your UAN (Universal Account Number) is activated and linked with your bank account, Aadhaar, and PAN.

2. Missed Call Service

If your mobile number is registered with UAN, you can also know your PF balance by simply giving a missed call to:

You will receive an SMS from EPFO detailing your current PF balance and last contribution. No charges are incurred for this service.

3. Umang App Access

The Umang app (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) is another easy way to check your PF details.

Steps to check PF balance on Umang App:

  • Download the app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

  • Register with your mobile number.

  • Go to EPFO Services > Employee Centric Services > View Passbook.

  • Log in using your UAN and OTP.

You can also submit claims, track claim statusand download your passbook through this app.

4. EPFO Official Portal

You can directly check your PF balance online by visiting the official EPFO member portal.

  • Visit:

  • Click on ‘Services’ > ‘For Employees’

  • Select ‘Member Passbook’

  • Enter your UAN and password to log in
