
Manipal: Swaroopa T K officially assumed office as the new Deputy Commissioner of Udupi district on Wednesday at the DC’s office in Manipal. Outgoing DC Dr K. Vidyakumari welcomed Swaroopa with a bouquet and formally handed over the charge.
Following the takeover, Swaroopa held an interaction with outgoing DC Dr Vidyakumari, Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar, and other taluk tahsildars. Prior to this posting, she served as the Director of e-Governance in the RDPR department, Bengaluru.
A farewell ceremony was organised for Dr Vidyakumari at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Hall in the District Collectorate premises.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Vidyakumari said that the collective efforts of officials and staff helped the administration implement several progressive initiatives. She noted that in the past two years, there were no communal disturbances in the district and that law and order was efficiently maintained, with good support from the people.
New DC Swaroopa T K said that officials must be responsive to public grievances and stressed that everyone has greater responsibilities in public service.
The event was attended by Zilla Panchayat CEO Prateek Bayal, SP Hariram Shankar, ASP Harsham Priyamvada, Coastal Security Force SP Mithun, DFO Ganapathi, Kundapur Sub-divisional Officer Rashmi, District Government Employees’ Union President Dinkar Shetty, among other officials. Additional DC Abid Gadyal welcomed the gathering, and Sports Department Deputy Director Dr Roshan Kumar Shetty compered the event.
