She welcomed Karisma into the Bachchan family. Both of them got engaged but in 2003 their engagement of Karisma and Abhishek broke off. On 29 September 2003 Karisma married Sunjay Kapur. However they got divorced in 2016. Karisma got custody of both children. Sunjay married Priya Sachdev who was already divorced.
