Canada: Canada’s top intelligence agency, in its latest annual report, has warned that Khalistani extremist networks remain active in Canada and continue to exploit the country as a launchpad for promoting, financing, and planning violent acts against India. The report comes just days after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the country for the G7 Summit, amid rising diplomatic unease between the two countries.Canadian Intelligence Flags Continued Pro-Khalistan ActivityIn its annual national security threat assessment, the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) revealed that “Khalistani extremists continue to use Canada as a base for the promotion, fundraising or planning of violence primarily in India.” The report also pointed to individuals and organised networks associated with the Khalistan movement who continue to operate within Canadian borders.According to CSIS, these extremist groups advocate for the establishment of a separate nation, Khalistan, largely within India's Punjab region, and many of them do not shy away from backing violent methods to achieve this goal. Security Alerts Issued Ahead of G7 SummitIndian intelligence agencies have reportedly flagged serious concerns over potential pro-Khalistan protests coinciding with PM Modi’s arrival in Canada for the G7 Summit. According to a reportsources confirmed that central security agencies in India have issued detailed advisories to their Canadian counterparts, urging them to step up protective measures for the Indian delegation. The findings suggest that Khalistani organisations were planning to mobilise demonstrations the moment PM Modi lands, raising fears of attempts to disrupt the visit or escalate into more serious incidents. This isn’t the first time such groups have targeted Indian interests, there has been a pattern of attacks on Indian diplomatic missions and officials in Canada in recent months.
