Aamir Khan on son Junaid
Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan made his screen acting debut in the period drama film Maharaj where he played the role of social reformer Karsandas Mulji. He then starred opposite Khushi Kapoor in the romantic comedy Loveyapaa remake of the Tamil film Love Today. The movie did not perform well at the box office, and was not well received by critics either, this included Junaid’s performance as well.
Recently his father, veteran Bollywood actor Aamir Khan did speak on his Bollywood and acting journey. “The way we work, the way he applies himself, the way his mind works; is very simple. On screen he is a totally different personality,” Aamir said of his son’s acting prowess.
He further added, “He is ready to take risks,” doing films which are “not in his comfort zone at all”. Khan did acknowledge that Junaid, “talks sincerely, something people are not used to hearing and they thus misunderstand him.” Giving an example of this, Aamir talked about how Junaid once talked about privilege, a comment where he was acknowledging it but due to his sincerity was taken to mean something totally different.
Aamir contrasting this with himself said that while he himself is more “measured”, but he too speaks his heart. On Junaid’s start in the industry, Aamir said, “He used to go to studios of casting directors, and give auditions. People would not know he was my (Aamir’s) son.”
Aamir further added how he was amazed by Junaid’s performance in Loveyapaa character that was way different from his real life personality. “He has stepped out of his comfort zone with his first film”, said Aamir.
Of the possibilities of casting Junaid in one of his films, Aamir said, “ My integrity towards my film is way beyond my relationship, I can’t cast him because he is my son.”
