Israel Iran War: On 17 June, US President Donald Trump criticized French President Emmanuel Macron for his recent statements. Macron had said that the Group of Seven (G7) went early from the summit to work on a ceasefire between US President Israel and Iran. Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, “French President Emmanuel Macron, who wanted the promotion, mistakenly said that I left for DC from the G-7 summit in Canada to DC, so that I could work on a ‘ceasefire’ between Israel and Iran.”

‘Emmanuel is always wrong’

He further wrote, “Wrong! They don’t know why I am going to Washington, but it definitely has nothing to do with the ceasefire. More than that, whether intentionally or unknowingly, Emmanuel is always wrong. Keep watching.” Addressing journalists at the G-7 summit, Macron said that Trump was considering the possibility of a possible ceasefire between Iran and Israel after the US leader announced early exit.

‘Need to resume talks’

Macron said, “In fact, a meeting and dialogue have been proposed. Especially to start a ceasefire and then to start a broad talk. It remains to be seen whether both sides move forward on it or not.” Describing it as a positive developments, Macron further said, “At the moment, I believe negotiations need to be resumed. Citizens need safety.”

The French President further said that he does not expect any immediate change in the situation, but the US has assured that it will find a way of ceasefire and has the ability to pressurize Israel, so the situation may change. Trump had earlier announced that he was reducing his participation at the G-7 summit and returning early. “I have to come back early for clear reasons,” Trump told the media. He said that he would leave after a formal dinner with these amazing leaders.
