Three, Vodafone, Smarty and Talkmobile customers sent message with change from 'mid June'

Mobile phone network Three has issued a message to all customers to inform them of a huge change coming in mid-June - ie right about now.

The firm has confirmed its merger with rival is now complete, forming a new company, . Three customers have been issued a message about changes being put in place following the merger, including a signal speed boost for 7 million mobile customers and major changes for 27 million customers in total.

The firm issued an email to customers which said: "We're excited to let you know that the merger of and is now complete. Together, we're building you our best ever network.

"Rest assured that your terms and conditions with us remain the same and you can still contact us in the same way."

Three confirmed in a message to its customers that 7 million UK Three customers will see their 4G data speeds increase from mid-June, by an average of 20%.

And 'within a few months', both Vodafone and Three customers will start to automatically use each other's networks.

Around 27 million mobile phone customers have been promised better coverage "at no extra cost" within months as a result of the merger between Vodafone and Three, the firm says.

VodafoneThree - now the biggest mobile phone network in the UK following the completion of the £15 billion mega-merger just last week - said customers will experience better signal with shared access across both networks at no extra cost, with Voxi, Smarty and Talkmobile - which use the Three and Vodafone network - also set to benefit.

Three said: "Starting from mid-June this year, 7 million Three UK customers will see an improvement in their 4G data speed by an average of 20%.

"Within a few months - Vodafone and Three customers will start to automatically use each other's networks - connecting them to the best coverage available.

"Expanding superfast broadband coverage across the UK, focusing especially on homes and businesses underserved by current broadband providers, offering better speeds and more reliable connections."

It added: "By bringing the two networks together you will enjoy expanded coverage, faster streaming and even better reliability. Through continuous network upgrades, we'll provide better-quality connectivity and faster speeds for our customers."

Three also reassured customers that price plans will not change, although there may be new offers in future for customers on both networks.

It said: "No, your current deals remain unchanged. However, customers can look forward to new exclusive offers designed specifically for Three and Vodafone customers in the near future."
