youngster William Osula has spoken about his lack of minutes at St James' Park since joining the club last summer. The striker signed for the Magpies from last August in a deal worth £10million, but his recent remarks may hint at a potential exit already.

Osula was used sparingly by last season, often as a bit-part substitute and thus he only played 124 minutes of Premier League football while got the headlines instead.

Reflecting on his campaign in an interview with , Osula has demanded more minutes, complaining at how his lack of opportunities is preventing him from showing his worth on Tyneside. He explained: "I just need playing time to show what I can do.

"It means something to me. I already know... Only myself and my father know what I can do. When playing time comes, everyone will see what I can do on the pitch."

Osula's progress has largely been hindered by the red-hot form of Isak. The Swedish international enjoyed a remarkable campaign last season, which saw him assert himself as one of the best strikers in Europe, scoring 27 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions.

Isak quickly became undroppable as a result, leaving Osula to sit and suffer on the bench. The pathway for the 21-year-old to feature more regularly has threatened to be cleared already this summer, with Isak linked with a host of top European outfits, including Liverpool and Arsenal.

However, Newcastle are confident that they can retain the services of the ex-Real Sociedad star, and his immense valuation could price the vast majority of his suitors out of a potential deal. As a result, it remains to be seen whether conversations are held about Osula and the role he may play next season.

Although the Magpies will want to have an alternative striker option to Isak, they could run the risk of halting the development of their No. 18 by keeping him as a second-choice option.

Thus, it would be no surprise to see Newcastle entertain any loan approaches for Osula - especially if the club accelerate their plans to press on with a £60million move for Brighton forward Joao Pedro. The Brazilian is capable of playing through the middle and out wide.
