India's Test Team Faces Ranking Challenges

The Indian cricket team is set to kick off the new World Test Championship cycle with a five-match series against England. However, the current state of Indian batsmen in the rankings is concerning, with only two players making it to the top 20. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant are the only representatives in the top 10, while no other Indian batsman is featured in the top 20. Shubman Gill is positioned within the top 30, but both KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja have fallen outside the top 40.

Leading the rankings is England's star batsman Joe Root, who boasts an impressive rating of 888 points. Yashasvi Jaiswal follows closely in fourth place with a rating of 847. Rishabh Pant holds the tenth spot with 739 rating points, which he shares with Usman Khawaja and Saud Shakeel, who are ranked ninth and eleventh, respectively.

Meanwhile, India's newly appointed captain Shubman Gill is ranked 24th with 631 rating points. Ravindra Jadeja sits at 46th with 538 points, while KL Rahul is just behind at 47th with 533 points. Shreyas Iyer, currently out of the team, is ranked 64th with 465 points, and Axar Patel follows closely at 65th with 464 points. Nitish Kumar Reddy rounds out the list at 67th with 459 rating points.
