Arrest in the Murder of Sheetal Choudhary

Chandigarh: In a significant development, Haryana Police have apprehended Sunil, a married man with two children, in connection with the murder of 24-year-old Haryanvi model Sheetal Choudhary, who gained recognition for her roles in regional music videos. The arrest took place in Panipat, adding a disturbing layer to this high-profile investigation.

The suspect, who resides in Israna, was taken into custody on Monday evening for allegedly fatally stabbing the model.

Sheetal's family reported her missing on June 15.

Her body, discovered in a canal in Sonipat on Monday morning, bore signs of violence, including a slit throat and multiple stab wounds.

Known as Simmi, the model lived with her sister in Panipat and was actively involved in creating music videos.

According to police reports, an argument between Sunil and Sheetal escalated into a physical confrontation on Saturday night, during which Sunil allegedly stabbed her multiple times before disposing of her body in a canal.

Sub-Inspector Sandeep informed the media that Sheetal's elder sister, Neha, filed a missing person report on June 15.

In her report, Neha mentioned that her sister had left for a shoot but failed to return. Despite their efforts to locate her, she remained missing.

Neha also revealed to the police that Sunil, her sister's former boyfriend, had previously assaulted her and attempted to force her to leave with him.

On Sunday, Sunil's car was discovered submerged in a canal in Panipat under suspicious circumstances. He was rescued from the vehicle, but Sheetal was not found with him.

Neha accused Sunil of attempting to mislead the investigation.

Ultimately, Sheetal's body was recovered from a canal in Kharkhoda, and tattoos on her hands and chest confirmed her identity.

The police verified that the body matched the details provided in the missing person report filed in Panipat.

"Sunil is currently in custody, and we are exploring all aspects of the case. His statements have been inconsistent, and we are awaiting the results of the post-mortem examination," stated Panipat Superintendent of Police, Bhupender Singh.

The body has been sent to Khanpur Medical College for an autopsy.

Neha shared with the police that Sunil had known Sheetal since their time working together in a hotel in Karnal.

"He proposed marriage, but Sheetal declined after discovering he was already married with children. Even after she left the job, Sunil continued to harass her," Neha explained.

Investigative teams from both Panipat and Sonipat are collaborating on this case.
