Tottenham set Son Heung-min exit demands as transfer could be delayed

Tottenham captain Son Heung-min could be set to depart for Saudi Arabia, but only after participating in Spurs' pre-season tour to South Korea. The 32-year-old forward, who is considered a club legend after aiding Tottenham in securing their first trophy in 17 years, has just a year remaining on his current contract.

However, Saudi Pro League and other Middle Eastern clubs have shown significant interest in one of the Premier League's most prominent figures.

Despite this, Son remains a colossal figure in his native country, being one of its most successful exports, and with Tottenham scheduled to play in South Korea this summer, it would require a substantial offer to convince Spurs to let him leave prior to their match against Arsenal in Hong Kong on July 31, followed by a crucial game against Newcastle in Seoul three days later.

Tottenham recognises the immense commercial value and interest that Son's participation in these games generates.

Despite losing his guaranteed starting position last season and the club choosing to extend his contract for another year, Son's future remains uncertain.

New head coach Thomas Frank is exploring new forward options, having made a move to sign Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo - who is also on Manchester United's radar - and Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo. They have also secured Mathys Tel on a permanent deal.

This has only increased the uncertainty surrounding Son's future, and this summer could see him make a move - but only at the right time and for the right price.

Son, who made the switch from Bayer Leverkusen to Spurs in 2015, has netted an impressive 173 goals in 454 appearances and is widely hailed as one of the club's standout performers in recent years.
