India Population Census 2027: The central government has issued an official notification regarding the census. This process of census will be completed by 1 March 2027, while the date of completion of the census in the hilly areas of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal and Uttarakhand will be 1 October 2026. Along with the census, caste census will also be conducted this time, which was announced by the government some time ago.
Decision to conduct census in two phases
Along with the counting of castes, it has been decided to conduct census-2027 in two phases. The reference date for Census-2027 will be on March 1, 2027 00:00. That is, the census work will be completed by 1 March 2027. The last date to complete the census for snow-covered areas of the Union Territory of Ladakh and Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will be 1 October 2026. The last phase of the census will start from February 2027 and will be completed by 01 March 2027 (reference date).

The entire process will be done in digital way
With the release of the official notification, now different agencies will start their work. This process includes training employees, collecting data by going to people’s homes, making format, appointing employees. The last phase of the census will be completed by 1 March 2027. According to the information, the entire process will be done in a digital manner.
Census takes place every ten years
Census is done once every ten years in India. Its purpose is to collect the population, social and economic status and other important information of the country, so that the government can take the right decision in making policies and setting up the schemes. The responsibility of conducting the census is with the Registrar General and Census Commissioner Office under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
