Karnataka, Kerala Schools Closed News: Will schools remain shut on June 17 amid heavy rainfall?

Bengaluru: Heavy rains continued to pound various districts in southern states, including Karnataka and Kerala. Karnataka’s Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district administrations have decided to close all the educational institutions on Monday. The decision comes after a red alert was issued by the IMD for heavy to very heavy rainfall along the Karnataka coast.

Schools and colleges in Malappuram, Kannur, Kasaragod, Wayanad and Thrissur districts of Kerala have been declared a holiday on Monday due to heavy rains. IMD has also issued a red alert in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod. Parents and students are confused as there is still no official announcement on whether schools will reopen on Tuesday (June 17) in rain-hit districts.

Karnataka schools closed news

Following the IMD warning of heavy rainfall, Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district authorities have decided to close schools on Monday (June 16). The district administration has advised that all precautionary measures be taken while reopening schools. However, there is no announcement yet from the district authorities on whether the closure of schools will continue on Tuesday or not.

Kerala schools closed news

All schools and educational institutions in Malappuram, Kannur, Kasaragod, Wayanad and Thrissur declared a holiday on Monday as shutters were opened at several dams in Kerala due to heavy rains. There is no official notice yet on whether schools will reopen on Tuesday (June 17) or not.

Parents and students of rain-hit districts are advised to keep checking the official social media handles of the district administration and contact the school authorities for the latest updates.
