Mumbai Rains Alert: Konkan Region Under Red Alert; City And Suburbs Experience Heavy To Very Heavy Rainfall Today

Mumbai has been experiencing heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over night till the early morning hours of June 16. Clouds began forming yesterday evening, and the rains started around midnight on June 15.

Civic authorities in Mumbai have issued warnings that "Moderate to heavy rain is expected in certain areas of Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburbs, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg in the next 3 hours." Reports indicate that the Secretariat in Mumbai advises citizens to stay vigilant.

The recent information from Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) states that Heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely to occur in the districts of South Konkan -Goa.

Heavy rains in Mumbai's Sion and Dadar districts led to road flooding and waterlogging in low-lying areas, affecting Sion, Dadar, Parel, Bandra, Vile Parle, and Andheri. This created unrest among citizens. The Meteorological Department warned of continued heavy rain today for Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar, causing delays of five to ten minutes on local trains.

An 'Orange Alert' is in effect for Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg, while a 'Yellow Alert' signifies expected heavy rain in parts of Mumbai and Thane.

Overcast conditions expected with heavy rain in certain areas of City and Suburbs. High Tide at 15:31 hrs. - 4.21m; Low Tide at 21:41 hrs. - 1.86m. Next day's tides: High at 03:31 hrs. - 3.44m, Low at 09:10 hrs. - 1.33m.
