New Delhi: England will host India in a five-Test Series that will kick off on June 20. India hopes to end an extended draught as it last recorded a successful Test series in England in 2007. Although their preceding tour ended in draw 2-2 beating them would be a big achievement. India faces a challenging upcoming series due to significant team changes. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohlis retirements along with the absences of Mohammed Shami and for some matches Jasprit Bumrah represent considerable losses to the teams strength. The series will therefore be a difficult undertaking for India. Englands cricket team faces challenges following the retirements of James Anderson and Stuart Broad resulting in a weakened bowling attack. Furthermore the batting lineups heavy reliance on Joe Root is a concern due to inconsistent performances from other players. Englands Ben Stokes is a key player but his recent batting performance is a worry. Since June 2023 he lacks a Test century and his average is 33 runs per innings with only seven scores above fifty in his last 18 Tests. England hopes he regains his form before the Ashes series given the upcoming challenging series against India. Ben Stokes has the opportunity to set a new world record during the upcoming India series. He currently leads the World Test Championship (WTC) in sixes with 83 and needs just 17 more to become the first player to reach 100 sixes in the WTC. His current WTC run total stands at 3312 runs across 53 matches. The five-match Test series begins June 20th in Leeds followed by matches in Birmingham (July 2nd-6th) London (Lords July 10th-14th) Manchester (July 23rd-27th) and concluding in London (The Oval July 31st-August 4th).
