After losing the WTC Final to South Africa, Pat Cummins reflects on the one-match format, saying “not on the right side but it’s been a great week,” as he praises Test cricket despite the defeat.

New Delhi: Australia suffered a rare defeat in the ICC World Test Championship 2025 final. Lead in the first innings, slipped in the second

Australia started the match strongly and took a crucial lead of 67 runs in the first innings. But the batting collapsed in the second innings and from there South Africa made a way back. Captain Pat Cummins admitted that his team’s batting in the third innings was weak, which became a major reason for the defeat.

Australia performed brilliantly in the last WTC cycle – won the title by defeating India in 2023, retained the Ashes and won on overseas tours.
