New Delhi: After the successful launch of the Maverick Lobo previously, Ford is supersizing the street truck formula with the new F-150 Lobo.
First named for the 1981 Bronco concept before coming to a production model in 1997 in Mexico's F-150. For 2025, the F-150 Lobo, rather than being a separate variant, is an option package on the STX.
Ford sells the street truck exclusively in the SuperCrew body style with the 5.0-litre V8. The naturally aspirated engine still makes its usual 400 bhp, and those interested in the 450 bhp EcoBoost V6 or the Raptor R's supercharged 5.2-litre V8, which gets a huge 720 bhp, have to look at other options.
Ford F-150 Lobo features
Taking cues from its spiritual predecessor, the SVT Lightning has a 4WD system with an electronically controlled, on-demand two-speed transfer case and selectable 2H, 4A, 4H and 4L modes. It has a maximum payload capacity of 657 kg and can tow as much as 3583 kg.
For the most part, the Lobo is a cosmetic package designed to make the F-150 look meaner. There's a 10-piece ground effects kit, put together with a lot of black accents. Further, it comes with a distinctive front grille and a dual-layer LED light bar, making it stand out. Ford has also made subtle changes to the taillights and added discreet Lobo badging as well.
The 22-inch gloss black wheels that come with it are exclusive to the F-150 Lobo, and the rear has been lowered by two inches, making the stance more aggressive. Unlike the Maverick Lobo, it also gets dual exhaust tips. The full-size street truck comes with Atlas Blue, Rapid Red, Carbonised Grey and Oxford White apart from the black that can be spotted in the photos unveiled by Ford.
Ford have priced it at $59,995, which is $4,695 more than the standard STX. It is unlikely to be the fourteenth-generation model’s last hurrah. The current F-150 may be around for a while, despite being roughly five years old. According to media reports, the next generation is pushed back till 2028.
