Suspense crime, Digital Desk : Amazon has officially entered India’s fiercely competitive quick commerce arena, launching its new “Amazon Fresh Now” service in select areas of Bengaluru. This strategic move places the global e-commerce giant in a direct showdown with established rapid-delivery players like Zomato’s Blinkit, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart.
For years, Indian consumers have grown accustomed to 10-20 minute deliveries from these startups. While Amazon has offered a 2-hour grocery delivery service through Amazon Fresh, this new venture signals a major pivot to compete on speed. The “Fresh Now” service will operate out of dedicated micro-fulfillment centers, or “dark stores,” designed to serve nearby customers in a fraction of the previous time.
This isn’t Amazon’s first attempt to crack the instant delivery market. The company previously ran “Amazon Now,” which was later rebranded and integrated into its broader Amazon Fresh offering. This relaunch represents a more focused and aggressive strategy, acknowledging the massive growth and consumer demand in the q-commerce sector.
The entry of a behemoth like Amazon is set to intensify the battle for market share. It will likely trigger a new wave of competition on pricing, delivery speed, and product selection. For consumers in Bengaluru, and eventually across India, this heightened rivalry could mean better deals and faster access to groceries and daily essentials.
By leveraging its deep pockets, existing logistics network, and vast customer base, Amazon aims to carve out a significant space in a market that has become a defining feature of urban Indian life.
