New Delhi: Veteran actor Dharmendra is finally opening up about that kiss which set social media on fire. The legendary star, known for his charisma and romantic hero status from the golden era of Bollywood, grabbed headlines once again in 2023 when he shared a brief yet bold kiss with Shabana Azmi in Karan Johar’s multi-starrer 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani'.

In a recent conversation with ANI, Dharmendra addressed the much-discussed scene and offered a lighthearted take on the reaction it received. “Maine Ranveer ko bola, Ranveer, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani me, tune to bohot kisses ki hain, or meri ek hi kiss ne hila dala logo ko (I told Ranveer that you have had a lot of kisses on screen, but my one kiss shook everyone),” he shared with a chuckle, recalling what he told his co-star Ranveer Singh.

The kiss, which came as a surprise to many, became one of the most talked-about moments of the film. Dharmendra, however, believes that it was far from scandalous. Calling the moment “aesthetic,” he emphasised that romance doesn’t come with an expiration date. “There is no age limit for romance,” he said, proving that love stories aren’t just for the young.

Interestingly, the veteran actor also compared his character in the film to Shah Rukh Khan's Devdas, saying, "In a way, he (Dharmendra's character in Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani) was like Devdas. The Devdas who wandered in alcohol, with no memory of anything, and then he dies. It's tragic, and it was a good story."
