Taking to social platform Reddit, SpottedChoropy posted: "Going to BBQ with friends tonight, any unconventional ideas?" The post has amassed over 250 comments so far, with one in particular standing out.

Arabidopsis said: "Watermelon." A user named gittar agreed and added: "When I do it is still crisp, but I only left it on for a few minutes each side, just long enough to get the grill marks."

Other Reddit users also agreed that watermelon tastes great after being cooked on a barbecue. Chae-veg explained their method: "I tried it and it's one of my favourite ways to eat watermelon now. It's definitely worth trying. A little balsamic vinegar goes well on top when grilling btw."

FitChickFourTwennie added: "I tried it before! Was grilled then served with salt and a balsamic drizzle, it was an appetizer and I remember I liked it."

Ohsureyoudo, who has tried cooking watermelon on a barbecue added: "It tastes great. The BBQ made it sweeter but with a smoky flavour."
