New Delhi: The flight of “self -sufficient India” is now touching the heights of the sky, and the most vibrant example of this is India’s two major indigenous fighter aircraft – Tejas (LCA) and AMCA (Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft). Both these projects not only testify to India’s technological progress, but are also proving to be a decisive turn in the country’s strategic freedom and defense capacity.

Tejas: Youth but mature warrior

Tejas, which is a light fighter aircraft (LCA), has joined the Indian Air Force and has proved its proficiency. Developed by Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), the aircraft took its first flight in 2001. After years of technical challenges and reforms, Tejas has now become a fully mission-rade platform.

Tejas is not only mild and fast, but it also has modern avionics, multi-rol abilities and advanced arms systems. It is completely based on indigenous design, with more than 75% of Indian components. Its advanced version-Tejas Mk-1 and upcoming Tejas MK-2-will further strengthen India’s defense capacity.

Amca: India’s next stealth warrior

After the success of Tejas, India is now engaged in the development of the next generation stealth fighter aircraft AMCA. It will be a 5th -generation fighter aircraft, designed with stealth technology, supersonic cruise, and state -of -the -art sensor fusion. This aircraft will not only put India in the line of global forces in the defense, but will also play a decisive role in future wars.

Explain that the AMCA project is being developed together by Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO), ADA and HAL. Its first prototype can fly till 2028 and is expected to come into service in the early 2030s.

Strong steps towards self -sufficiency

India has been dependent on foreign fighter aircraft for decades – names like MiG, Sukhoi, Miraj, Rafael have been familiar faces of the Indian Air Force. But indigenous aircraft like Tejas and AMCA are not only reducing this dependence, but also giving new life to the domestic defense industry. Along with this, India is now emerging rapidly in the field of defense exports.
