A quick and easy dinner for me after a long day of work is a breaded fillet of fish from the freezer and some . All in all, it only takes me about 30 minutes to make - and it fills me up when I come home from the office hungry. However, this time I decided to add one thing to my homemade chips - and I'm so glad I did because they tasted spectacular.

After I had cut up my potato into chips and boiled them for about five minutes, it was time to decide which I was going to use. My fish was on the baking tray and ready to be put into the oven, so all I needed to do was season my chips and put them into the oven as well. Looking through my cupboard, I had the usual spices you would expect - and I did consider simply putting , salt and pepper on them. But this time I went for something completely different. I coated my homemade chips with curry powder.

I had medium curry powder in my cupboard and I thought that maybe this could make for some nice chips. It was something I hadn't tried before but I'm always willing to experiment with simple classics in the kitchen.

I have curry powder to make, of course, . But when I added them to my chips, I was delighted with the outcome. But first, I boiled the chips on a high heat for five minutes and transferred them into a bowl.

I them added a generous amount of curry powder to the bowl and used my hands to mix around the chips, making sure they were all coated in the curry powder. They were then put into the oven with the fish and I let that all cook on 200C for around 25 minutes.

I was delighted with how the chips tasted when they came out of the oven. I suspected that curry powder would make a nice chip but I didn't expect to enjoy them this much. I would definitely use curry powder to make chips again as they exploded with flavour.

They came out crispy on the outside as they were cooked on a relatively high heat and soft in the middle because they had been boiled beforehand. The generous amount of curry powder also helped them to become crispy in the oven.

I find that curry powder is an essential ingredient to have in my cupboard at all times and I have even . Plus, it is relatively cheap, usually costing between £1 and £2 in British supermarkets.

So there you go...Homemade chunky chips with a very peculiar twist. Bon appétit!
