After being dropped from Pakistan’s T20I team, Babar Azam has joined the Sydney Sixers for the 15th season of the Big Bash League. Babar has come on board as a pre-draft player as the franchises are allowed to add one international player before the draft. The draft for the new season will take place on June 19.
A recent report from PTI revealed that Babar, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Afridi will not be considered for T20Is in future. The decision has been taken by the officials before the West Indies and Bangladesh series. The Sixers announced the decision on their website.
“The Sydney Sixers are thrilled to announce the signing of superstar Babar Azam,” read the statement.
“We welcome Babar Azam to the Sixers. He has a lot of experience and the batter will add value to our team. He is a world-class player and an inspirational leader. His arrival is good for the league,” said Sixers General Manager, Rachael Haynes.
