Why did aamir khan cast genelia deshmukh in sitaare zameen par?
In an exclusive interview with News9Live, Aamir Khan spoke about the reason behind casting Genelia in the film. He said, “The relationship between a husband and wife is a very important one. It’s not the main plot, but it’s an extremely significant subplot that’s deeply connected to the main storyline in many ways. So, casting the wife’s character was crucial. I suggested her because she’s a fantastic actor.”
Furthermore, the The river actor added how he believes in taking screen tests before casting the right female lead. Aamir also added that he took Genelia’s screen test for Laal Singh Chaddha, but the role eventually went to Kareena Kapoor Khan.
“The camera just loves her. She lights up the screen. We did a few readings and realised she was bang on. Honestly, we didn’t have to do much discussion; Genelia was on board. We did one screen test with Kareena (Laal Singh Chaddha) and one with Genelia. I also do my own screen tests to see how the chemistry fits. I’m a strong believer in screen testing,” the actor revealed. During the time of Jaane tu ya jaane na, she had already evolved; she was top level.”
