Akshay Kumar’s HOUSEFull 5 has set the box office buzzing despite mixed reviews and stiff competition. The fifth installment in the popular comedy franchise has already earned over ₹127 crore net in India in just seven days and is closing in on the ₹200 crore global mark.

Box Office Blitz: Strong Opening Weekend Sets the Pace

The film kicked off with a bang, collecting ₹55 crore in its opening weekend. Sunday alone brought in ₹32.5 crore, making it the highest-grossing day of the week and the franchise’s fastest entry into the ₹100 crore club, achieved in just four days.

Weekday Dip But Still Steady

Following a strong weekend, HOUSEFull 5 saw the usual weekday slowdown. However, it held up well:

Day 5 (Monday): ₹10.75 crore

Day 6 (Tuesday): ₹8 crore

Day 7 (Wednesday): over ₹6.75 crore (early estimate)

This brings its Week 1 net total to ₹127 crore in Indiaand approximately ₹152 crore gross.

Global Game: Nearing ₹200 Crore Worldwide

International markets added another $5 million (around ₹42 crore) to the film’s total.

This pushes the worldwide gross to nearly ₹195 crorewith expectations of crossing ₹200 crore by the second Friday.

Will It Be a Hit? All Eyes on the ₹300 Crore Target

Despite its solid performance, the film has a hefty production budget of ₹240 crore—the highest ever for an Indian comedy.

To be considered a true commercial hit, HOUSEFull 5 must cross ₹240 crore in net domestic earnings or reach ₹300 crore worldwide.

Fortunately, revenue from satellite, OTT, and music rights has already helped recover a significant portion of the investment. However, box office legs will be the deciding factor in the film’s long-term success.

Mixed Reviews, Loyal Fan Base

Though audiences have criticized the film for its over-the-top humor and double-meaning jokes, the Housefull franchise remains a crowd-puller.

Akshay Kumar’s star power, combined with the ensemble cast, has helped the film maintain traction.

The upcoming second weekend will be crucial. If the film continues to draw crowds, it may cement its position as one of the year’s biggest hits.
