Ahmedabad, India, June 12 - 242 passengers have died in the Air India plane crash, according to early reports.

The Air India pilot cited "engine failure" in an air traffic control mayday call before crashing, according to a local source. The plane "crashed into doctors' hostel" and "within 2-3 minutes, police and other agencies reached the spot."
