If you also book the Tatkal ticket of the train online yourself, then this news is very important for you. Since 1 July 2025, IRCTC is going to make a big change in Tatkal ticket booking. Under the new rule, now your Aadhaar card will be linked to IRCTC account, otherwise you will not be able to book tickets.
Verification will be done from OTP from July 15
Not only Aadhaar link, while booking Tatkal tickets from July 15, your Aadhaar mobile number will also be necessary, because OTP verification will be done at the time of booking. This step has been taken to curb brokers, so that common passengers can also get tickets easily.
What are the benefits of linking Aadhaar?
According to IRCTC, the user who links his Aadhaar card can book 24 tickets in a month. Whereas only 12 tickets can be booked without linking Aadhaar.
It is very beneficial for family trips or group travel.
This is how to link your IRCTC account to Aadhaar – Step by Step Guide
Open and go to your phone or computer www.irctc.co.in
Log in to your IRCTC account.
Go to the above “My Account” tab and click on “Authenticate User”.
Now your profile will be seen on the screen.
Enter your Aadhaar number or virtual ID here and click on “OTP”.
Put the OTP that will come on the mobile number link to your Aadhaar.
Tick and submit the checkbox.
After successful verification, the message will come on the screen.
What if there is a problem in linking?
If your Aadhaar and IRCTC account have different names, date of birth, or address, the linking may fail.
In this case, first update the details of your IRCTC account according to the Aadhaar.
If the update is not possible, create a new IRCTC ID.
If you do not have an Aadhaar card?
If you do not yet have an Aadhaar card, or there is any technical problem in it, then you may have trouble in booking Tatkal tickets. Tatkal tickets will no longer be booked without linking Aadhaar.
