The Government of India has implemented several new rules since 2025 to make road safety strict and compulsory traffic rules. Now if you make a slight mistake during driving, then you will not only have to pay heavy fine, but can also be sentenced to jail.

Action on parents on a minor driving vehicle

According to the new rules, if a minor is caught driving, his parents or parents will be fined ₹ 25,000. Apart from this, he can be jailed for up to three years. The registration of the vehicle will be canceled for one year and the minor will not get a driving license till the age of 25 years.

Drinking driving after drinking alcohol now doubled

If a person is caught driving a drunken vehicle, then there is a provision of a fine of ₹ 10,000 or 6 months in jail and a second time for a second penalty and a sentence of 2 years.

Earlier jumping red light, there was a challan of only ₹ 500, now it has been increased to ₹ 5,000.

Strict fine on high speed and overloading

Off the vehicle at a high speed and a challan of ₹ 5,000 and more than ₹ 20,000 will be charged for carrying more goods in trucks or other commercial vehicles.

Action on license and pUC

A fine of ₹ 5,000 will have to be paid for driving a valid driving license. However, the digital license on the Digilocker or MPARIVAHAN app will be valid. If there is no valid PUC certificate, ₹ 10,000 fine, 6 months jail and community service can be ordered.

Punishment for not wearing helmets and seat belts

If no person sitting in front or back in the car wears a seat belt, then the challan of ₹ 1,000 will be deducted. Even if caught on the bike without a helmet, a fine of ₹ 1,000 and license for 3 months can be suspended.

Mobile phone used a serious crime

Using a mobile phone while driving, challans of up to ₹ 5,000 can be applied as it has become the main cause of accidents.
