Simon Cowell has confessed he's "very worried" as he candidly discussed his bond with his son Eric in a heart-to-heart.

As Father's Day looms, the Britain's Got Talent star revealed personal insights while chatting to Jeff Brazier on This Morning's June 12 segment about the joys and trials of parenthood.

Simon, alongside his partner Lauren Silverman, became a proud father to Eric back in February 2014.

In the intimate pre-recorded interview, the entertainment tycoon opened up about the transformative experience of becoming a dad, expressing how it eclipsed all his other life achievements.

"Honestly, [it means] everything. Out of everything I've ever done in my life, this is the best thing to ever happen to me. The very first time I saw his scan, I was literally obsessed," Simon divulged, reports .

He continued: "It kind of gives you a purpose I think. I enjoyed my life, I enjoyed my work. I was getting to a point where I was getting bored. Once you become a parent, then it's like everything is for them. I actually really, really enjoy his company."

The music impresario also described their nightly routine: "So like, every night we read together before he goes to bed. I can wind him up if I want to because he's so easy, like Lauren, to wind up.

"I just make stupid stuff up and he's like, 'That's not real' and it's like, 'No, it really is real' and he kind of half knows but he's still wound up but he's got a good sense of humour. He's a good kid."

Cowell then touched upon the emerging challenges of fatherhood, especially technology: "We're getting to a point where the word phone comes up, 'Oh god, here we go.'".

"I'm very worried Jeff, about how much kids can see at a certain age. I grew up... which was learning things at the right time, the right age, etcetera etcetera. I just would be petrified of him having access to anything, that would really worry me."

He continued: "I think schools put too much pressure on kids, which is, you're getting up at seven in the morning, you're coming home say at five, six in the afternoon, evening and then you've got to do two hours of homework.

"It's like, they're ten, eleven, twelve years old. It's too much. I would say to any teacher watching, ban homework, you'll have happier kids and they'll do better."

Sharing fond memories of his own childhood and having named Eric after his own father, who passed away in 1999, Simon said: "My mum used to say, manners maketh the man and my dad was very good about respecting other people and I'm trying to do the same thing with him.

"Which is, don't make it over complicated you know, find your path, be happy, be respectful to other people."

Looking ahead to the future, Simon shared that he'd want Eric to look back fondly on his childhood spent with his parents.

The BGT judge would love his 11 year old son to say that his childhood was "the best thing" that made him "happier" than anything that's ever happened in his life.

This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
