Lychee For Children: Litchi is one of the most liked fruits in summer. Its taste is liked by everyone from adults to children. However, apart from taste, if we talk about health, then let us tell you that the consumption of litchi is not completely safe for children. Regarding the matter, pediatrician Puneet Anand has shared a video on his Instagram handle. In this video, the doctor says, it is very important to keep some things in mind before feeding litchi to children. Let us know about this in detail-

What do experts say?

Pediatrician Puneet Anand says, litchi contains compounds like hypo glycine A and methylene cyclopropyl glycine (MCPG), which can be harmful to the health of children. These compounds can greatly reduce blood sugar i.e. sugar level in children, due to which children can become lethargic, children may complain of weakness or vomiting, they can faint and in serious cases, it may even lead to going to the hospital. This problem is especially seen in underweight children.

Keep this thing in mind while feeding litchi to children
To avoid danger, doctors advise never to give litchi to children immediately after waking up from sleep or on an empty stomach.
Do not feed more than 3-4 litchis at a time. Excessive consumption can cause health problems.

Wash and peel litchi thoroughly and give it, as it may contain worms.
Avoid half-ripe or raw litchi, as they contain high levels of hypoglycin A and MCPG.

Litchi should not be fed to malnourished children, as their immunity is weak and they can be more affected.

Keeping these precautions in mind, litchi can be consumed by children in a limited and safe manner. However, if any child still shows symptoms like weakness, vomiting, or fainting after eating litchi, then consult a doctor immediately.
