There are two situations to apply for Tatkal Passport. First- When you need a passport immediately. Such as medical emergencies, business trips, and family emergencies. Second- When your passport is lost, stolen, or damaged.
Who does not get an instant passport?
The Government of India has kept some people out of the scope of the Tatkal Passport Service. People whose parents are Indian but were born abroad. People who have been granted citizenship by the Home Ministry. Residents of Jammu and Kashmir do not get instant passports. Adopted children. Children whose parents live separately but are not divorced.
In how many days will the instant passport be made?
While it takes 30 to 40 days to get a normal passport, the process of an instant passport is completed in 3 days and a maximum of 5 days. The best thing is that for an instant passport, there is no need to go through the process of getting the documents verified by any gazetted officer. There is also no need for police verification. If your form has been submitted and all the documents are correct, then there is no need to wait for police verification.
These documents are required to get an instant passport.
To get an instant passport, you will need any one of the documents for date of birth proof: birth certificate or 10th mark sheet, Aadhaar card, PAN card, voter ID card or driving license. For address proof, any one of the documents required: electricity or water bill, ration card, assessment order of income tax department, voter ID, Aadhaar card, bank passbook. Along with this, Annexure Format-1 will have to be submitted. This is an affidavit of Indian citizenship and no criminal record.
