The Indian cricket team is set to earn $1,440,000 (around Rs 12.33 crore), even though they didn’t make it to the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025 Final. While New Zealand and Australia will battle it out for the title, India finished third in the points table for this cycle. They’ll end up with almost the same amount that Australia got for winning the WTC 2023 Final, which was $1.6 million.
As for the final, the winner of the match between South Africa and Australia will take home $3.6 million, while the runner-up will get over $2.1 million. This much-anticipated match is set to kick off on Wednesday at Lord’s, known as the home of cricket.
Australia, led by Pat Cummins, is looking to defend their title, having beaten India in the last final at The Oval in June 2023. On the flip side, South Africa, led by Temba Bavuma, is eager to finally snag an ICC title after two decades and make history with their first WTC win.
During their journey to the final, South Africa had a rocky start, winning just one of their first five Tests but then went unbeaten in their next seven matches. They topped the WTC standings with a 69.44 point percentage, thanks to eight wins and three losses in 12 games. Australia, the defending champions, came in second with a 67.54 point percentage, scoring 13 wins and four losses in 19 matches. Australia’s recent success in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy also helped them secure their spot in the final.
