Manchester United face a pivotal juncture in their pursuit of star Bryan Mbeumo as talks between the clubs advance. And given the current financial constraints at Old Trafford, this could significantly impact their other potential investments in the coming months.

's initial bid of £55million was reportedly rebuffed by Brentford. Although another offer is expected soon, Ruben Amorim's team would be wise to consider their options before returning with better terms. Despite ending the season at an all-time low of 15th in the and failing to secure a spot in Europe next term, United still hold some cards. This comes after reported Mbeumo, who had been , now has his sights set on a move to Old Trafford, despite interest from Arsenal and Newcastle.

This change of heart, following links with both clubs in January, tips the scales in United's favour in the transfer tussle. Tottenham have also been mentioned as potential suitors amid rumours Thomas Frank is poised to take the reins in north London, although it's suggested Mbeumo is prioritising a future at United.

This mirrors the swift signing of Wolves standout Matheus Cunha. The Brazil international expressed a desire to play for United above all others next season, which illustrates the club still possess considerable allure despite their absence from European competition.

It's understood the Bees are demanding more than £60m to let their player go, a hefty sum considering United already splashed out £62.5m for Cunha. However, if the Red Devils are set on their target, they may have to break the bank once more.

Another option for Man United is to fund the deal by offloading Alejandro Garnacho, which many might see as a foregone conclusion this summer. The player publicly expressed his frustrations at being dropped for the Europa League final against Spurs before being left out of the squad altogether for the season finale against Aston Villa.

Argentinian newspaper Ole reported AC Milan have initiated talks to sign Garnacho and are aiming for a deal worth £50m. That's £15m less than United's alleged valuation of the player, but it might be enough to persuade them given Amorim's strained relationship with the 20-year-old.

That amount wouldn't quite cover the expenditure needed to bring in Mbeumo, who would also add more to the wage bill. However, it's a handy way to dispose of one problematic asset while recruiting his effective replacement.

One issue is that Mbeumo primarily plays on the right wing, whereas most of Garnacho's time is spent centrally and on the left flank. This raises questions about what the future holds for Cunha and whether he's meant to play up front, behind the striker or out wide.

Amad Diallo has just begun to flourish under Amorim, and he too mainly operates from the right. After several years of battling injuries, managerial changes and loan spells away from Old Trafford, it would be disappointing to see the 22-year-old's progress stall now.

However, United are in urgent need of immediate results and cannot afford to wait on the potential of future prospects. In this regard, Mbeumo would be a proven Premier League upgrade based on his recent performances.

The Cameroon international ended this season with an impressive tally of 20 goals and eight assists, featuring in all of Brentford's 38 league matches. However, he wouldn't be the first significant investment to shine elsewhere before struggling under the heightened pressure at United.

Regardless of how Mbeumo arrives at the club, the Red Devils will have to part with a substantial sum. And the way they manage their finances could significantly influence the extent to which the club can invest in other areas this summer.
