The US city of Los Angeles is in the grip of violence these days. Protesters and security forces are face to face and there is an atmosphere of chaos in the entire city. President Trump has deployed the National Guard, but despite this, the situation is not under control. This entire dispute started with the raids of the Federal Immigration Department, which soon took the form of violence and the situation is such that protests and arson incidents are taking place everywhere in the city. The police are using tear gas shells and rubber bullets to control the crowd.
How did the protests start?
Under President Trump's policy, illegal immigrants are being deported from America. Under this, the Immigration Department is conducting raids across the country. The Immigration Department recently also launched a campaign against illegal immigrants in Los Angeles and the Immigration Department and Customs Department detained alleged illegal immigrants from two Home Depots, a donut shop, and a clothing warehouse in Los Angeles. This action was taken in the Fashion District area of Los Angeles.
People protested against this and social organizations also came in support of the detained people. A huge crowd gathered outside the detention centers where the alleged illegal immigrants were kept. The police enforced prohibitory orders and banned the gathering of people. Despite this, people did not listen. The Immigration Department detained 44 people on Friday and a total of 118 immigrants were arrested in Los Angeles in a week. This angered the people and violence started.
The situation worsened further due to the deployment of National Guards.
Seeing the situation worsening, President Trump deployed National Guards in the violence-hit areas of Los Angeles without asking California Governor Gavin Newsom. The California Governor expressed displeasure over this and called it a serious violation of the state's sovereignty. Newsom has demanded the withdrawal of the deployment of National Guards. However, Trump is also adamant and now he has also ordered the deployment of Marine Commandos. The situation worsened further due to the deployment of National Guards and people started pelting stones and arson on the security forces. Burning vehicles are seen at many places in Los Angeles. Meanwhile, security forces are using tear gas shells and rubber bullets against the protesters.
